last night my husband was honored at the LA Kings Hockey game as the “Hero of the Game.”
before the game started we were treated like VIP’s in the fancy restaurant connected to the staples center where we were given a $600.00 food limit for all we could eat. there, we ran into Luc Robatalle, got a picture with him.
then we were whisked downstairs toward the arena. he walked onto center ice in his handsome blues and saluted the flag while the star spangled banner was sang. that in itself made our night amazing.
he then came up from that and we made our way to our seats. halfway through the first period, they did an entire bio on my husband. he received a standing ovation from the crowd for about 5 minutes. i almost started crying.
while we were sitting there, we looked a few rows down and he happened to recognize Clay Matthews from the Green Bay Packers. my husband, through all his charm, talked to a lady on staff and was able to get us a meet an greet with Clay. the four of us headed down into the VIP club and seriously just hung out with Clay. most normal, nice, California boy. he ended up signing my husbands game puck and giving him his watch!
we went back to our seats totally shocked and then recognized Wayne Gretzky also sitting a few rows below us. my husband headed down, and this picture was taken.
after the game, Clay invited us out for sushi at a restaurant in Hollywood Live. we were honestly stuffed from our pre-game gorging, but agreed to go anyway (its not every day a pro football player invites you out to dinner.) we happily, normally, chatted about everything from life dreams, to guns, and children. (you know…normal dinner conversation.) when we asked for the bill, we were told it was taken care of by another table.
when we walked to that table it was a table full of the defense and offensive players that played with Gretzky when he was on the Kings.
overall, one of the most random, great nights we’ve ever had! :)
(shhhh…..don’t tell my husband, who’s a huge Bears fan, but GO PACK GO!)
